Three adults and a child escaped a Tuesday morning fire that destroyed their Tampa home.

TAMPA, FL — An early Tuesday morning fire that caused an estimated $60,000 in damage to a Tampa home has been ruled accidental. According to Tampa Fire Rescue, the blaze was caused by discarded smoking materials.

The fire in the 900 block of East 28th avenue was reported around 1 a.m. June 20. When fire crews arrived, they found the home fully involved, according to an email from fire rescue. The blaze was under control by 1:21 a.m., the agency reported.

Officials say three adults and a child were able to safely escape the burning home. A cat was treated on the scene with an oxygen mask, the agency noted.
