Tampa International Airport: TPA Holds GALA Event Honoring Women In Aviation

Under the stars March 19, 2022, will be a night to remember on the ramp at Peter O’ Knight Airport. Join the Women in Aviation Tampa Bay chapter for the inaugural GALA (Girls Achieving Leadership in Aviation), a fundraising event, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Guests can expect a cocktail setting serving small plates and hors d'oeuvres as well as a live band. Speakers at the event will include Dorothy Cochrane, an Aeronautics curator with the Smithsonian Museum, Shanan Gibson, Dean of the College of Business at Embry-Riddle and Nicole Stott, a retired NASA astronaut, each selected specifically to celebrate the past, present and future of women in aviation.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority at Tampa International Airport is partnering with Atlas Aviation and Sheltair (fixed-base operators) and the Tampa Bay chapter of Women in Aviation to host this event. Proceeds from the event will go toward establishing a scholarship fund for local young women and girls pursuing aviation in the community. Purchase tickets here
