TAMPA, FL — A 34-year-old man remains behind bars after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said he threw gasoline on another man and then lit him on fire.
On Sunday at 4:32 p.m., two men got into a verbal fight at the Mobile gas station at 14516 N 22nd St. in Tampa. According to deputies, one of the men, Earl Hargrove Jr., bought a small amount of gasoline from the gas station, poured it on the other man and lit him on fire.
The victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

“A verbal argument should never escalate to this level of violence,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This suspect’s behavior is not only deplorable but will never be tolerated in our community. The suspect, in this case, is currently behind bars while we wait in anticipation for justice to be served."
Hargrove is charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm and attempted murder in the first degree. He is being held at the Falkenburg Road Jail on $115,000 bail.
