Tampa Man Struck, Killed Walking In Path Of Dump Truck
The 20-year-old man was attempting to cross Sligh Avenue near U.S. 301 about 12:50 p.m. Friday, deputies said.

TAMPA, FL - A 20-year-0ld Tampa man was struck and killed by a dump truck as he attempted to cross Sligh Avenue near U.S. 301 about 12:50 p.m. Friday, deputies said. The man was identified as Erick Miguel Lizardi of Tampa. He died at the scene.
Lizardi was walking southbound on Sligh Avenue when he attempted to cross the road just west of U.S. 301. Lizardi was not within a cross walk when the accident occurred. Benjamin Joseph Richardson, Jr., 46, of Plant City, was driving a 2000 Peterbilt dump truck northbound on U.S. 301 in the right, left turn lane for westbound Sligh Avenue. He approached the intersection on a green arrow when Lizardi walked in front of the truck from the north shoulder while in the middle of Richardson's turn.
No charges are expected in this matter and the incident remains an active investigation.
