Tanker Truck Loaded With Gasoline Explodes After Being Rear Ended
The driver of the tanker truck died at the scene.
TAMPA, FL — A 49-year-old Montgomery, Alabama, man has died after the tanker truck full of gasoline he was driving was rear ended by a car on Saturday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:43 a.m., the tanker truck was heading south on U.S. 41 north of Bloomingdale Avenue when it was overtaken by a car driven by a 23-year-old Ruskin man, who crashed into the rear of the truck, causing it to explode.
The tanker truck struck a utility pole and the car overturned off the road.

The tanker truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the Ruskin man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
