Teen Killed in Tampa Hit-And-Run Crash

A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the hit-and-run death of a 17-year-old girl.

TAMPA, FL — A Wednesday night crash along Hillsborough Avenue has left a 17-year-old Tampa girl dead while launching a hunt for the motorist involved.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle was heading eastbound on Hillsborough Avenue near Blue Springs Drive around 8 p.m. Oct. 12. At that time, Ashley Perdomo was walking south across Hillsborough Avenue.

Perdomo, a highway patrol report said, walked into the vehicle’s path and was hit. The driver of the vehicle, fled the scene.

Perdomo was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, but died from her injuries. She was a senior at Hillsborough High School. Perdomo was reportedly struck while on her way home from work Wednesday night.

"It has been a difficult morning at Hillsborough High School," the school district reported in an email to media following Perdomo's death.

Troopers are now looking for the motorist involved. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the highway patrol at 813-631-4020. Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is also offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the cash. To be eligible for a reward, tips must be called in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
