TAMPA, FL — Couples planning to marry this year may want to consider several Florida cities as strong contenders for saying "I do."
According to a new study by WalletHub, quite a few are among the best places in the country to tie the knot — with Orlando ranked as the No. 1 destination overall in the country. Miami was not far behind, ranking No. 3.
To help couples find the most wedding-friendly destinations, the personal finance website compared more than 180 of the biggest U.S. cities across 28 key indicators of cost-effectiveness, convenience and enjoyment.

The data set ranges from average wedding cost to venues and event spaces per capita to wedding vendors.

- Fort Lauderdale — No. 15
- Jacksonville — No. 58
- Port St. Lucie — No. 53
- St. Petersburg — No. 54
- Hialeah — No. 62
- Cape Coral — No. 99
- Tallahassee — No. 123
- Pembroke Pines — No. 130
Compared to other cities nationwide, Orlando and Miami have the most flower shops per capita, WalletHub found.
Meanwhile, Hialeah was among the cities identified as having the fewest attractions followed by Pembroke Pines with the fewest wedding chapels and churches per capita.
The average couple shells out around $22,500 for their big day, according to The Knot. Brownsville, Texas, has the lowest average wedding cost at $13,071, which is 2.6 times lower than in Bridgeport, CT, the city with the highest at $34,241, WalletHub reported.
Orlando ranked 15th in cost — the lowest among the other Florida cities listed in the study.
