Tom Petty Announces Tampa Tour Stop
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers plan a stop in Tampa on their 40th anniversary tour.
TAMPA, FL — Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have announced plans for a 40th anniversary tour with one stop in particular likely to be music to Tampa Bay area fans’ ears. The southern rock crooner and his band intend to host a show at Amalie Arena nearly next May.
Petty, a Sunshine State native, announced plans for the U.S. tour Thursday night. The tour gets under way on April 20, 2017, with the Tampa stop set for May 6 at 8 p.m. Joe Walsh is scheduled to open for Petty in Tampa.
Tickets for the Tampa show go on sale starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16. Pre-sale tickets will be made available for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Highway Companions Club members starting at 10 a.m. Dec. 14. Tickets start at $31.25 for the Tampa show and go up to $145.75. Prices do not include facility fees or service charges.

According to Amalie Arena officials, tickets will be available at the facility’s McDonald’s Ticket Office starting at 10 a.m. Dec. 16. Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets will also have them. Phone orders may be placed by calling 800-745-3000.
