WRONG MESSAGE: Hearing-impaired people tuning into a news conference about the arrest of Howell Donaldson III in the Seminole Heights shootings got a message of gibberish as they watched an American Sign Language interpreter. The interpreter was identified as Derlyn Roberts, who got out of state prison last year after serving years for organized fraud. Tampa police spokesman Steve Hegarty said Roberts presented herself as an interpreter for the deaf just before the news conference broadcast on live television at 11 p.m. Nov. 28. DOWNTOWN BOOM: Strategic Property Partners has released one of the most detailed renderings for its $3 billion project: Water Street Tampa. Strategic Property Partners is a real estate firm backed by Jeff Vinik, owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Cascade Investment, run by billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates. The site is located on Hillsborough Bay and the Garrison Channel. SARASOTA HEIRLOOMS: Antiques Roadshow, PBS's most-watched ongoing series, will be coming to Sarasota on Thursday, April 12 during a five-city tour. A random drawing will be held for tickets in early March. In each hour-long episode, specialists from the country's leading auction houses and independent dealers offer free appraisals of antiques and collectibles. The show features tales of family heirlooms, flea market finds and items saved from attics and basements, while experts reveal the truths about these items. DRUNK AS AN OPOSSUM: An opossum apparently drank bourbon after breaking into a Florida liquor store recently. A liquor store employee found the animal next to a broken and empty bottle of bourbon.
