Tow Truck Driver Killed in I-275 Crash
A motorist faces DUI manslaughter charges after the Sunday morning death of a driver from Crockett's Towing.

TAMPA, FL — A 42-year-old tow truck driver is dead following a fatal crash on southbound Interstate 275 in Tampa early Sunday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Leandro Corrales Perez, 30, of Tampa was heading south on I-275 south of Fowler Avenue in a Toyota Camry around 1:33 a.m. Nov. 27. As Perez was traveling in the outside lane, Danny Ray Hand, a tow truck driver from Crockett’s Towing and Recovery, was helping a disabled motorist.
Troopers say Hand’s tow truck had all its caution lights on at the time. Perez, however, failed to maintain control of his vehicle, left the road and hit Hand, who was standing outside his vehicle.
