University Mall Dillard’s Getting New Digs

The Dillard's at University Mall is moving into a new space.

TAMPA, FL — Folks who love taking advantage of the discounts at the Dillard’s Clearance Center at University Mall will soon find the store in brand new digs. RD Management has announced that Dillard’s is taking up residence in the mall’s former Macy’s location.

The new Dillard’s location is expected to open to shoppers on or around May 1, according to RD management officials.

As for the location Dillard’s is moving out of, RD Management officials say it shouldn’t remain vacant long.

“We are working with a tenant for the former Dillard’s space,” RD Management told Patch via email. Company officials wouldn’t say what might go into the space.

The University Mall Macy's was one of 68 stores across the country the retailer slated for closing earlier this year. The move, Macy's said, was being made to save money so it can invest in e-commerce and provide customers with a better experience at locations that will remain open.

RD Management is in the process of redeveloping University Mall into a mixed-use facility that will include retail, medical, residential, hospitality and office spaces. The company is a privately held real estate development and management organization.
