USF Football Player Arrested On Sexual Battery Charge

Police are investigating an alleged sexual battery involving a member of the University of South Florida's football team.

TAMPA, FL — A University of South Florida football player faces sexual battery and false imprisonment charges following an alleged attack on the school's Tampa campus Monday.

According to the USF Police Department, its officers were called to the Holly Drive Apartments around 3 p.m. May 1 to investigate an alleged sexual battery that occurred around 2:30 p.m. involving two students.

“The victim immediately reported the incident to university housing staff who assisted the victim in contacting police,” a Tuesday morning email from the agency said. “The suspect and victim were acquaintances.”

After investigating the allegations, police charged LaDarrius Jackson, 22, with sexual battery and false imprisonment. Jackson was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail early Tuesday morning. He was being held without bond, according to jail records.

Jackson is a junior defensive end for the Bulls. He is from Birmingham, Alabama.
