Warrant Issued For Man Wanted In Fatal Tampa Shooting

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said it has identified a man connected to a homicide in on Nebraska Avenue on Friday, June 2.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said it has identified a man connected to a homicide in Tampa on Friday, June 2.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 12100 block of Nebraska Avenue just after 7 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives have issued a warrant for first-degree murder with a firearm for Joel Elkanah Jr., 25.

"As our investigation continues, I urge anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward immediately," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "While we believe this to be an isolated incident at this time, Elkanah Jr. is considered armed and dangerous, and we are dedicated to ensuring he is arrested for his crime."
