More than 130 guests gathered at UnitedHealthcare’s (UHC) annual wine tasting event at the Glazer Children’s Museum in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday, May 19, 2016, where over $10,000 was raised for the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) medical grant program.
Joining the guests were UHCCF grant recipient and local St. Petersburg, Fla. residents Milo Hill and his parents, Jana and Sean Hill. Diagnosed with Leukemia in 2012, Milo’s family received two UHCCF grants in 2013 and 2014. The combined grants paid for all of his hospital chemotherapy, at-home chemotherapy, hospitalization costs, prescriptions, and occupational therapy that were needed as a result of muscle deterioration.
“The grants gave us comfort and peace of mind so that we didn’t have to worry about our financials and we could focus on taking care of Milo and getting him better. Today, he is in full remission and finishing his first grade year at public school. The grants gave Milo and us the gift of life in every way.”
