FL Woman Injured, Charged With Attempted Murder In Road-Rage Shootout

A woman injured during a Thursday afternoon road-rage incident in Brandon was later arrested for attempted murder, sheriff's office said.

BRANDON, FL — A woman was arrested for a Thursday afternoon road-rage shooting in Brandon, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting between two vehicles at the intersection of South Hilltop Road and West Brandon Boulevard just before 2:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found Aiden Richards, 21, with a gunshot wound, and the other person involved at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

She was brought to a local hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to her lower body.

Detectives learned that both people involved in the incident had an altercation while stopped at a red light.

Richards shot at the other vehicle, hitting it several times, in response, the sheriff’s office said.

The other driver pulled out a gun and returned fire, hitting her.

She was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted murder in the second degree — firearm discharge, two counts of shooting at, within, or into a vehicle.
