1 Dead In 4-Vehicle Crash On FL Highway
A Gainesville woman died in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near Tampa on Saturday morning, FL Highway Patrol said.
TAMPA, FL — A 56-year-old Gainesville woman was killed Saturday morning in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 75, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
She was driving her car south on I-75, south of Fowler Avenue, in the inside lane around 11:30 a.m., when she entered the center lane and hit another car, which was driven by a 30-year-old New York woman.
The Gainesville woman’s car was redirected into the median, where it hit the guardrail, overturned and entered I-75’s northbound lanes, FHP said.

Once in the northbound lanes, she hit a car in the outside lane. Debris from this crash then hit another car that was heading north in the center lane, troopers said.
After hitting the SUV, she continued until she hit and came to a stop on the outside guardrail, FHP said. She died at the scene.

The New York woman and the driver of the car hit by debris, a 72-year-old Maryland woman, were uninjured in the crash.
The SUV’s driver, a 57-year-old Riverview woman, suffered a minor injury.
