Woman Shot On I-275 After Medical Emergency, Crash: FL Highway Patrol
A driver who hit another SUV on I-275 after a medical emergency was shot by an unknown assailant following the crash, troopers said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A woman who suffered a medical emergency and hit another vehicle on Interstate 275 on Monday afternoon was shot after the crash, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Troopers responded to reports of a crash in the southbound lanes of I-275 near milepost 56 around 5 p.m.
They found a 63-year-old Lutz woman lost control of her SUV after a medical emergency, left the road and then hit the milepost 57 road sign, FHP said.

Then, her SUV returned to the travel lanes and hit an unknown silver or white mid-sized SUV.
After this, the driver was shot at by an unknown assailant who left the scene.

Troopers found the woman “bleeding profusely and applied life-saving measures to staunch excessive bleeding,” FHP said.
Investigators later found a bullet hit the front driver’s side window and exited the SUV through the windshield. Pieces of the fired round were found in the vehicle’s backseat.
It was later determined that the victim suffered lacerations from the broken window glass, which caused wounds seen by the troopers.
