Yeshua Bistro, Sushi Ninja Brandon Cited By Health Inspectors

A soiled microwave oven and foods stored on the floor are a few of the violations found recently in Hillsborough County restaurants.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A soiled microwave oven, foods stored on the floor and no Heimlich maneuver/choking sign posted are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Hillsborough County restaurants.

Zen Bistro Grill & Sushi Bar, 9620 W Linebaugh Ave, Tampa, was cited for 12 violations on May 10, including accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in interior of ice machine; raw rice stored under drain board of dish machine on the floor; wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris behind dish machine; and glass cleaner stored hanging off the drain board of sink.

Kim's Latin American, 11911 E. Martin Luther King Blvd., Seffner, was cited for three violations on May 10, including no Heimlich maneuver/choking sign posted; and no paper towels or mechanical hand-drying device provided at handwash sink.

Yeshua Bistro, 10910 N. 30th St. Suite 105, Tampa, was cited for 10 violations on May 9, including rusted shelves in reach-in cooler in kitchen; interior of microwave soiled with encrusted food debris; no sanitizer of any kind available for silverware washing; and plumbing system in disrepair.

Sushi Ninja Brandon, 903 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon, was cited for nine violations on May 8, including foods stored on floor in walk-in freezer; employee phone stored on rice cooker; in-use tongs stored on equipment door handle between uses; and cut sushi held for more than 24 hrs not date marked.

In the last 21 days, 117 Hillsborough County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 248 restaurants aced the first visit. For more details on Hillsborough County restaurant inspections, click here.

The inspectors made note of six Tampa restaurants that passed inspections during the past week without any violations: Amalie Arena-Lexus Lounge, 401 Channelside Drive; Eurest Dining Services, 2202 N. Westshore Blvd.; Alfred's Food Inc., 3907 W Broad St.; Dechant Cafe, 5831-B Memorial Hwy.; Canteen Vending, 602 S Falkenberg Road; and Grain & Berry, 14308 N. Dale Mabry Hwy., Ste C.

Note: Most of the restaurants with violations have corrected those violations and passed subsequent inspections.
