1 Killed in Fiery 54th Avenue South Crash
One man died and two were seriously injured in an early Tuesday morning crash on 54th Avenue South.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A fatal Tuesday morning crash on 54th Avenue South remains under investigation by the St. Petersburg Police Department.
According to the agency, a blue Chrysler Sebring was headed east on 54th Avenue South around 1:39 a.m. Dec. 13. When the driver, Tron L. Morgan, 39, approached a curve, he lost control of the car, an email from police said.
The Chrysler left the road, struck two palm trees in the median, flipped and then caught fire in the 4000 block of 54th Avenue, the agency said. Bystanders were able to remove Morgan from the burning vehicle, police noted.

Officers who arrived on the scene first were able to remove passenger Steed C. Garrison, 37, from the car. A second passenger, Carlos Garrison, 35, died upon impact, police said.
Morgan and Steed Garrison were both taken to Bayfront Health with serious injuries.

“Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in this crash,” the police department’s email said. “Charges are pending.”
