2 Dead In St. Pete After Hurricane Milton Makes Landfall: Police

At least six people are dead after Hurricane Milton slammed into Florida's west coast as a strong Category 3 storm.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two people died in St. Petersburg after Hurricane Milton hit the Tampa Bay area as a strong Category 3 storm, police confirmed on Thursday.

During a morning news conference, St. Pete Police Chief Anthony Holloway confirmed two people died after Milton made landfall at Siesta Key in Sarasota County. Holloway said one was a medical-related death, while the other victim was found in a park.

Their cause of death remains unknown, officials said.

Four deaths were also reported at the Spanish Lakes Country Club Village in Fort Pierce after multiple tornadoes spawned in St. Lucie County.
