2022 Atlantic Hurricane Preparedness Events, Tips In St. Pete: City
Hurricane season begins Wednesday and runs through Nov. 30. An in-person event and upcoming webinar will help St. Pete residents prepare.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The city of St. Petersburg has two hurricane preparedness events coming up to help St. Pete residents prepare for what is expected to be a busy 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Weather analysts at Colorado State University's Department of Atmospheric Science in Fort Collins estimate that the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season will be an active one that produces 19 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes(reaching wind speeds of 111 mph and up), Tampa Patch reported.
Hurricane season is active until Nov. 30.

"CSU is forecasting a 75 percent chance of a hurricane coming within 50 miles of Florida this season and a 44 percent chance of a major hurricane within 50 miles of Florida's coastline," the Patch outlet reported.
If you are like some residents who haven't prepared yet for the hurricane season, St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue's Hurricane Expo takes place Wednesday, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Willis S. Johns Recreation Center, 6635 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N., St. Petersburg.

Free hurricane preparedness supplies and resources will be donated by various community organizations to attendees at the Willis S. Johns Recreation event, city staff said.
The second hurricane preparedness event is scheduled Wednesday, June 7, 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. The St. Petersburg City Council will host the webinar at https://zoom.us/j/97738097122.
