2025 Winter Forecast: How Rainy And Cool Will It Be In FL?

The 2024-25 Old Farmers' Almanac winter forecast has shared its predictions for what Florida will face in the coming season.

FLORIDA — Cooler than normal temperatures mixed with rainy conditions are expected this winter in Florida, while much of the United States should see moderate temps, according to a new 2025 winter forecast from The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The publication released its seasonal outlook Aug. 28 and calls for the coming season to be "a calmer, gentler winter."

Skiers, snowboarders and other winter outdoor enthusiasts will have plenty of opportunities to play if they head to the Pacific Northwest, mountains in the West, and parts of the Midwest stretching through the Ohio River valley into the Mid-Atlantic states, according to the forecast.

“This winter, temperatures will be up and snowfall down throughout most of the United States,” said Carol Connare, the Almanac’s editor-in-chief. “While there will still be plenty of chilly temperatures and snow for most slopes, the high heating costs associated with the season shouldn’t hit so hard. We’re predicting a temperate, uneventful winter — potentially a welcome reprieve from the extremes of recent years.”

Most of Florida is expected to experience a cooler winter than usual for the most part; that includes the length of the state from Jacksonville to Miami, plus Tampa and Orlando.

February is expected to be 3 degrees above average, with near-average temperatures for the rest of the season, the almanac predicts for Florida. The coldest periods are expected in the later parts of November, December, January, and February.

Snowfall is not expected, however, rainfall will be slightly above normal across the state of Florida this winter.

In the western part of the Florida Panhandle, residents should be ready for plenty of moisture and an extra dose of warmth this winter, the publication said.

Winter temperatures will be consistently warmer than average (about 2°F monthly). The coldest periods will occur in early and late November, from late January into early February, and in late February.

There will be exceptions to the mild seasonal outlook, the almanac said. Winter rainstorms will leave Florida, the Deep South, and southern California soaked. Meanwhile, heavy snowfall is expected in central and southern Appalachia, the western Ohio Valley, and the Rockies — good news for skiers and sledders.
