40 Pinellas County High Schools Make U.S. News 2024 ‘Best’ Ranking

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Dozens of public high schools in Florida are among the best in the country, according to a new ranking Tuesday from U.S. News & World Report.

In the 2024 Best High Schools list, Florida ranks fifth among U.S. states and the District of Columbia. Among the 647 ranked schools in the Sunshine State, 52 are in the top 5 percent nationally and 242 were in the top 25 percent.

In Pinellas County Schools, 40 high schools were included in the newly released report.

The rankings include data on nearly 25,000 high schools, looking at six key factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.

• St. Petersburg High School, St. Petersburg, ranked No. 1 in Pinellas County and No. 48 in Florida.
• Palm Harbor University High School, Palm Harbor, ranked No. 2 in Pinellas County and No. 58 in Florida.
• Osceola Fundamental High School, Seminole, ranked No. 3 in Pinellas County and No. 60 in Florida.
• St. Petersburg Collegiate High School, St. Petersburg, ranked No. 4 in Pinellas County and No. 62 in Florida.
• East Lake High School, Tarpon Springs, ranked No. 5 in Pinellas County and No. 93 in Florida.
• St. Petersburg Collegiate High School North Pinellas, Tarpon Springs, ranked No. 6 in Pinellas County and No. 162 in Florida.
• Tarpon Springs High School, Tarpon Springs, ranked No. 7 in Pinellas County and No. 163 in Florida.
• Largo High School, Largo, ranked No. 8 in Pinellas County and No. 183 in Florida.
• Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School, Seminole, ranked No. 9 in Pinellas County and No. 201 in Florida.
• Gibbs High School, St. Petersburg, ranked No. 10 in Pinellas County and No. 208 in Florida.
