Al's BBQ Pit, Vinoy Renaissance Resort Cited By Health Inspectors
Insects near sink, standing water in cooler and mold-like substance in ice machine are a few of the violations found in Pinellas eateries.
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Live insects found by a handwash sink, standing water in a cooler and a mold-like substance in an ice machine are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Pinellas County restaurants.
Al's BBQ Pit, 6869 Park Blvd, Pinellas Park, was cited for eight violations on May 3, including establishment operating with no potable running water (corrected on site); employee washing hands with cold water (no hot water at handwashing sink); mobile food dispensing vehicle disposing liquid waste improperly.
Chick-Fil-A, 4241 N 4 St, St Petersburg, was cited for 14 violations on May 3, including live, small flying insects found by handwash sink; employee personal food not properly identified and segregated from food to be served to the public; and standing water in bottom of reach-in cooler.

Louis Pappas Market Cafe, 2560C Mcmullen Booth Road, Clearwater, was cited for 14 violations on May 2, including accumulation of food debris/soil residue on handwash sink on cook's line; accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in ice machine; back and front doors have gaps at threshold that opens to the outside; and soiled reach-in cooler gaskets.
Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort, 501 Fifth Ave. NE, St. Petersburg, was cited for 17 violations on May 2, including cooked food not cooled properly, including clam chowder and cheese sauce; probe thermometer not accurate within plus or minus 2 degrees F - digital thermometer read 36 °F when held at room temperature, operator discarded; quinoa salad marked with date that exceeds seven days after opening/preparation.

The inspectors made note of seven Pinellas County restaurants that passed inspections during the past week without any violations: Our Latin Thing, 6657 49 St N, Pinellas Park; Trinihouse Catering, 6657 49 St N, Pinellas Park; First Watch Restaurant, 2539 Countryside Blvd. Ste 8, Clearwater; T.I.W.I Group Inc., 1969 Drew Street, Clearwater; Chris Salvin, 1001 N 1 St, St. Petersburg; Conny & Connor Ft#1, 500 Main St., Suite C, Safety Harbor; Derusso's Pizzeria, 1120 Pinellas Bayway S., Tierra Verde.
Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected those violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
