Statewide Elections Association Offers College Scholarship

Attention Florida college students. Here's some help with tuition.

 College students majoring in political science, mass communications, public administration and business administration may be eligible for college scholarships.

The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections, comprised of the 67 county supervisors, will award a $1,200 scholarship this year to an eligible student. The student must be a junior or senior at an accredited Florida college. The application is attached.

 “The cost of a college education continues to increase every year, and I know there are students who could use this scholarship from our state association,” said Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark.

 Applicants must be registered voters who have lived in Florida at least two years and must have maintained a “C” average or above during the past year.

 Other requirements such as letters of recommendation and financial information are listed on the scholarship application and in the scholarship guidelines, which are available for download at www.votepinellas.com.

 Applications should be submitted in the county in which the student is registered to vote.

 Scholarship applications must be received by 5 p.m. March 19 in any Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections office: 315 Court St., Room 117, Clearwater; 13001 Starkey Rd., Largo; or 501 1st Ave. N., St. Petersburg.
