Arrest Made In St. Pete Woman’s Murder

St. Petersburg Police say a 24-year-old man has been charged in the Sept. 24 shooting death of Allison Leigh Boyke.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department has announced an arrest in the Saturday shooting death of a 31-year-old woman. Police say Donele Akeem Bowens was brought into custody on first-degree murder charges Thursday night.

The incident that led to Bowens’ arrest began to unfold around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 24 when police responded to calls about shots fired near the intersection of 15th Avenue South and 48th Street. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Police say Allison Leigh Boyke was transported to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead from her injuries.

Bowens was booked into the Pinellas County Jail following his Sept. 28 arrest. He remained there without bond Friday, jail records indicate.

Police have released no further information in the case, including how Bowens is allegedly connected.
