Baby Born At FL Storm Shelter During Hurricane Milton: Officials
A mother gave birth to a baby boy at a storm shelter set up at Largo High School as Hurricane Milton battered Florida's west coast.
LARGO, FL — A baby boy was born at Largo High School, which was a designated storm shelter, overnight Wednesday as Hurricane Milton ravaged the greater Tampa Bay area.
The birth was “a brighter note” as Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm in Sarasota, bringing hurricane-force winds, heavy rains and storm surge to the entire region, Pinellas County Commissioner Charlie Justice wrote in a Facebook post.
“Mom and baby are safe” and eventually received care at a local hospital, Justice wrote.
