Meet you new best friend at Yappy Hour Thursday!  Pet Pal Animal Shelter will have adoptable dogs at Pawsitively Posh Pooch.  Check the event listing for details.

School starts Aug. 19. Planning to get school supplies during the Florida sales tax holiday this weekend?  Pinellas County shares 18 ways  to save on school supplies including ways to recycle, donate and reuse items in your house.

Bankrate.com suggests tips including going through closets this week to see what you have already; checking credit card receipts to see how much you spent last year; buying in bulk but within your budget and creating a list.

Did you know kids absorb more heat on a hot day than adults? Ten minutes is all it takes for a car to reach deadly temperatures, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

For National Heatstroke Prevention Day on Wednesday, Pinellas County Public Safety Services is encouraging a social media conversation day to share safety messages.

Typical Weather Week Ahead?

While the weather from Tropical Storm Dorian is still a bit of a wild card, the week’s weather forecast is shaping up. Highs will be in the upper 80s and low 90s. Our chance of rain from Tuesday through the rest of the week is about 30 percent.
