Police Say Suspect Fatally Stabbed Victim At St. Pete Home

Jeffery Tillman is charged with the murder of a man who hired him for house renovations, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — UPDATE Police arrested a 38-year-old man Tuesday evening who is accused by officers of killing a 65-year-old man earlier in the day at a St. Petersburg home, a police news release said.

The suspect, Jeffery Tillman, had known the victim, Deno Conley, for a long time, detectives said.

Conley hired Tillman to do renovations on the 38th Street North house that the victim owned, according to authorities.

Police accused Tillman of stabbing Conley before 1:20 p.m. when Conley went to the house to see Tillman.

Clearwater police arrested Tillman at 6:41 p.m., officers said.

According to police, Tillman faces charges of first-degree murder.

Officers found a man dead inside the garage of a home located in the 3400 block of 38th Street North Tuesday afternoon, a St. Pete police news release said.

This is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
