ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The body of a 23-year-old Marine who was a native of St. Petersburg has been flown back to the area for his family and friends to remember him Saturday.

Anthony Patrick Muhlstadt died Nov. 19 at 29 Palms, a United States Marine Corps base, in California, where he served as a sergeant machine gunner and a vehicle commander with the 1st Battalion 7th Marines. Muhlstadt graduated from Northeast High School in 2017.

Muhlstadt's funeral services are Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The Anderson McQueen Funeral Home's obituary said all are welcome to show their love for him and his family. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Blue Star Families in honor of Muhlstadt. Blue Star is an organization dedicated to keep military families connected to valuable resources in communities in which they serve and live, McQueen posted. He loved Christmas, and another ways to show support would be to bring an unwrapped toy to the service for the Marine Corps Toys For Tots Annual Christmas drive.
