Boil Water Notice Lifted In St. Pete: Officials

A citywide boil water notice put in place during Hurricane Milton has been lifted, St. Pete officials said. It remains in place in Gulfport.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The citywide boil water notice issued during Hurricane Milton was lifted Monday, St. Petersburg officials said in a news release.

Residents and businesses in St. Petersburg, Lealman and South Pasadena can now resume normal water usage “after thorough testing … confirm(s) that the water in those areas now meets all safety and quality standards,” officials said.

The boil water notice is still in effect for the city of Gulfport.

St. Petersburg’s precautionary notice was put in place when water pressure in the distribution system dropped below regulatory levels due to more than 300 water main breaks caused by the storm.

While coming out of the boil water notice, the Florida Department of Health recommends running each tape for at least five minutes to flush the lines, officials said.
