Sun City Center Man Dies In Early Morning St. Pete Crash At I-175, Fourth Street South

A Sun City Center man lost control of his car shortly after midnight in St. Petersburg, and wrecked into a church wall near Fourth Street.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A car went into the air on Interstate 175 in St. Petersburg killing the driver of Sun City Center when it crashed into a brick wall Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers, a 36-year-old man lost control of his car shortly after midnight near Fourth Street South on I-175. Then the car spun and flew in the air before it landed hitting a raised curb. The car then slid and crashed into a brick wall outside St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Church, 515 Fourth Street South, and flipped over.

Medical staff pronounced the man dead at the crash location, FHP said.
