Celebrate Aviation At Albert Whitted Airport On Saturday

Admiral Farragut Academy is scheduled to host AFA First Flight Day.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Admiral Farragut Academy is set to celebrate a couple of anniversaries with a celebration of aviation with the community.

The St. Petersburg school will host AFA First Flight Day on Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Pete Air Flight School at the Albert Whitted Airport, 107 Eighth Ave. S. The event takes place 25 years to the day that Farragut Aviation Director Rob Ewing’s first solo flight and the 50th anniversary of the school’s Development Officer Capt. Tom McClelland receiving his Naval Aviator wings.

  • Activities for younger children, such as building gliders and paper airplanes
  • Photo opportunities at the controls of the Cirrus aircraft owned by the academy
  • Tours of the airport maintenance hangars
  • Lunch provided by the Albert Whitted Airport

Established in 1933, Admiral Farragut Academy is a private college preparatory school for students in grades Pre K through 12 with an international boarding program for students in grades 8-12.The school offers signature academic programs including aviation (with dual enrollment with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University), engineering, Naval science, leadership, scuba diving and marine science.
