ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Tampa Bay Rays fans eager to get the team’s 2017 schedule on their calendars don’t have to wait any longer. Major League Baseball has released the team’s official schedule for the upcoming season.

The Rays will open at home April 2 in a faceoff against the Yankees. Those two teams will also play at Tropicana Field April 4 and April 5. Times have yet to be announced. After the three-game series against the Yanks, the Rays play the Blue Jays in St. Petersburg April 6-9.

The Rays head to New York on April 10 for the Yankees’ home opener. They’ll remain in the northeast through April 17 before playing at home once more on April 18 against the Tigers.

Rays fans will also find a single-admission doubleheader on the team’s schedule. The doubleheader is a first since 2011. The Rays will go up against the A’s in the twin bill on June 10. The games will be played at Tropicana Field.

"Many of us in the Rays organization have fond memories of single-gate doubleheaders, so this is something that we have long wanted to do," Rays President Brian Auld said in a statement. "The schedule lines up for it nicely next season and we're going to work hard to make it a special day at Tropicana Field."

The Rays former manager Joe Maddon is also expected to return to Tropicana Field for the first time since he left the team after the 2014 season. This time, however, he’ll do so as the manager of the Cubs. Those two teams are set to play at the Trop Sept. 19-20.

The regular season for the Rays is set to finish off with a three-game series against the Orioles Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
