ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Downtown Looper added a new stop to its route Friday to service Cross Bay Ferry riders and others in the Innovation District, according to a news release from the city.

The seventh seasonal ferry service between downtown Tampa and the new docking location in downtown St. Petersburg’s Innovation District launched Oct. 15.

Through June — the end of the ferry service for the season — the Downtown Looper, which is operated by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, will include a stop at Port St. Pete, 850 2nd Ave. SE, Monday through Thursday after 4 p.m. and all day Friday through Sunday.

“This enhancement provides a much closer trolley stop to the ferry dock, making it convenient for passengers to explore hundreds of downtown destinations within walking distance of the Looper's 19 other stops,” the city said. “Additionally, riders will be able to rent Lime E-bikes and Veo E-scooters if they don't bring their own bikes aboard the ferry.”

The new stop is within walking distance of University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg's Campus Grind, Tavern at Bayboro, Hangar Restaurant at Albert Whitted Airport, Dali Museum, Mahaffey Theater, Albert Whitted Park and Playground, and the USF SunRunner Bus Rapid Transit Station.
