St. Petersburg Police intend to beef up efforts to pull impaired motorists off local roads over the weekend.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Motorists with plans to party in the St. Petersburg area Friday night will want to make sure to designate a driver. The St. Petersburg Police Department is preparing to hit the road with a DUI Wolf Pack detail.
According to the agency, the citywide operation will hit the streets around 6 p.m. Aug. 18, and continue through 4 a.m. Saturday morning. Officers plan to “make a special effort to make our roads safer by focusing on impaired drivers,” an email from the agency to media said.
Motorists who do plan on drinking, are advised to make arrangements for safe travel. Drivers are considered impaired in Florida when they have blood alcohol content levels of .08 or higher. Underage motorists are considered legally impaired with BACs of .02 or higher.
