Fishing Trip Takes Fatal Turn For Boy, 5

A little boy pulled from water near Poynter Park in St. Petersburg on Wednesday has died.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department has announced the death of a 5-year-old boy who was pulled from water near the Third Street South seawall Wednesday night.

According to the agency, the boy’s family was fishing at Poynter Park. Just before 7 p.m., Jamirreeus Broward’s mother noticed he was missing and called police.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue divers responded and found the boy in the water around 7:28 p.m. Sept. 13, an email from the agency said. Broward was taken to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead.
