Fundraisers Set To Support Royal Theater Renovations
The Leadership St. Pete Class of 2017 selected the Boys & Girls Club as the beneficiary of its class project.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – From 1948 to 1966, the Royal Theater was one of two movie theaters that served the black community in St. Petersburg during the era of segregation.
The historic building located at 1011 22nd St. S. continues to support the community by playing host to the Royal Theater Boys & Girls Club. Now the community has a chance to give back to the building that has touched the lives of so many St. Petersburg residents over the years.
The Leadership St. Pete Class of 2017 will host three events over the next month to help renovate the Royal Theater. In February, the Leadership St. Pete selected the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast as the beneficiary of this year’s class project.

Through Capital improvements, Leadership St. Pete plans to help restore the Royal Theater by refurbishing program spaces to increase capacity to offer additional arts programming for Midtown children. The Royal Theater Boys & Girls Club focuses on arts programming because of its building’s historic tie-in with the arts.
Planned improvements for the facility include:
