Hit-And-Run Suspect Sought By St. Pete Police: Watch

A man pushing a dolly with a stove on it across Dr. MLK Jr. Street S. was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash, St. Pete police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Investigators are asking for help with identifying a car involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a man critically injured the night of May 29, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release. (Watch a video of the car below.)

A pedestrian, 35-year-old Derick Gamble of St. Petersburg, was crossing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street S. in the 1900 block from west to east around 9:30 p.m. He was pushing a dolly with a stove in a dimly lit area and not in a crosswalk.

An unknown dark-colored car was traveling south Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. S. in the median lane, approaching 20th Avenue South when it hit Gamble and drove away south from the scene, police said.

The vehicle is an older dark-colored sedan, possibly maroon, with damage to the left front, driver’s side corner. It is missing the left front headlight.

Gamble was brought to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
