Pinellas County Schools Provides Superintendent Search Survey To Community

Pinellas County Schools is providing three ways for the community to express which school issues a new superintendent should improve.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Pinellas County Schools is hosting a Superintendent Search forum for community members to participate virtually and in person, a school news release said.

A search for a qualified candidate to take Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Michael A. Grego's place began in January when Grego said he will retire at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. His last official day as superintendent is scheduled for July 1 after serving in public education for more than 42 years. He has worked as the superintendent of Pinellas County Schools for about 10 years.

  • Community members can give feedback online through the Pinellas Superintendent Search Survey or attend a virtual forum.

The online survey opened Wednesday and will close at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28. All answers are anonymous, school staff said. To participate in the survey, click here.

  • Three remote participation forums will include one in north, mid and south county. Participants at the remote locations will be able to see the in-person forums virtually and participate online.

  • Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.: Join in Person or Virtual (Password: PCSB) - Pinellas Park High
    Remote participation location: Oak Grove Middle
  • Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.: Join in Person or Virtual (Password: PCSB) - Countryside High
    Remote participation location: Tarpon Springs High
  • Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.: Join in Person or Virtual(Password: PCSB) - St. Petersburg High
    Remote participation location: Lakewood High

How Will The Forums Operate?

  • Participants will answer several questions.
  • In-person participants will be grouped by table. A representative at each table will provide a group answer to the moderator. Written responses will be collected.
  • Virtual participants will submit comments in the zoom link’s chat room.
  • No open microphone opportunity.

PCS, the Pinellas County School Board, the Pinellas Education Foundation, and the Florida School Boards Association have contracted Research Data Services, an independent research firm to conduct the survey and gather insights from the community.
