Hurricane Irma Power Outages: How To Report In Tampa Bay

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — With a weakened Hurricane Irma slowly making its way through the state, Florida residents can begin their efforts to recover. Tropical-storm force winds still threatened the area and authorities warned everyone to stay off the roads. If residents are out of power, they can call their utility company to report an outage.

Florida utility companies were reporting about 650,000 Tampa Bay homes and businesses were without power Monday morning. About 4 million Florida residents are out of power. To help folks figure out where to turn, here’s a listing of the region’s main electric companies, their outage contact information and links to track their outage maps online:

By 6 a.m. Monday, Irma, the beast that tore through the Caribbean, leaving at least 20 people dead in its wake, was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 mph as a Category 1 storm. Irma is moving toward the northwest coast of Florida at 18 mph after wreaking havoc in south and central Florida.
