ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Many people gathered at Allendale United Methodist Church Thursday to watch the prime-time televised Jan. 6 riots hearing.

St. Pete For Change, PDA Pinellas and Fired-Up Pinellas organized the watch event.

Michael Fox, a Progressive Democrats of America National member, told WFLA that this isn't about politics, but who we are as people.

"This is about us finding out what happened in the single most politically violent event since the Civil War," Fox said, the outlet reported.

Another person in attendance at the watch event, Jonathan Torres, a Republican consultant, considered the Capitol riot hearings a political spectacle and a political theater, according to the TV station.
