Support for Boston: St. Pete Community Members React

Here's a look at how our community is showing its support via social media.

As news broke Monday afternoon that at least two people died and another 22 were injured after two explosions occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, community members began to offer thoughts and prayers on Facebook.

According to the Boston Marathon's website, at least six runners in this year's race listed St. Petersburg as their hometown. If you wish to search for 2013 Boston Marathon runners, click here.

IRunMommies So disheartened. Praying for our fellow runners and all those affected by the tragedy today in Boston.

Progress Florida Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Boston and all those affected by today's tragic event. We're reminded of this quote by Fred Rogers, of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood":

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'"

Downtown St. Pete Our thoughts and prayers go to the City of Boston and guests from around the world on this very sad day.

Consider sharing your thoughts for the Boston community on Patch in a blog.  It doesn't have to be long, it could just be words of encouragement to those who had loved ones hurt in Monday's blast.
