ST. PETERSBURG, FL — After overnight storms brought strong winds, heavy rain and flooding to much of Florida, some low-lying St. Petersburg neighborhoods are only open to local traffic, the city wrote in a Sunday morning Facebook post.

Snell Isle, Shore Acres and Riviera Bay are only allowing local traffic until further notice, the city said.

These areas also flooded heavily during Hurricane Idalia, which hit the area at the end of August.

The city warns people to not drive through flood streets and “be courteous” of neighbors.

Driving through flooded roads “will push water closer to/into your neighbors’ homes,” officials said. “Please wait until water has receded to go outside.”
