Man Killed In Argument Outside St. Petersburg House: Police

Anthony Simmons, 51, was arrested Friday night and faces charges of second-degree murder and felon in possession of a gun, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A man was shot and killed Friday evening during an argument outside the accused shooter's St. Petersburg house, police said.

Anthony Simmons, 51, is accused of shooting 39-year-old Marquell Deangelo Boyd, a St. Petersburg Police Department news release said.

Simmons was arrested and faces charges of second-degree murder and a felon in possession of a gun, police said.

Police arrested Anthony Simmons in St. Petersburg near his home Friday night after they accused him of shooting and killing a 39-year-old man he got into an argument with. (Pinellas County Sheriff's Office)

Simmons and Boyd got into a fight Friday at 6:24 p.m. in the 2900 block of 15th Avenue South, police said.

According to investigators, Simmons then shot Boyd in the driveway. Medical staff pronounced Boyd dead at a hospital Friday night.

As of Sunday evening, Pinellas County Jail records said Simmons remains behind bars awaiting trial. Bond has not been set.
