Car Smashes Into Motorcyclist, 1 Killed

Florida Highway Patrol investigated an early Saturday morning crash in St. Petersburg on 54th Avenue North.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A car fatally struck a motorcyclist early Saturday morning in St. Petersburg after the victim fell from her motorcycle, a Florida Highway Patrol news release said.

A 60-year-old Kenneth City woman lost control of her motorcycle and hit a curb on 54th Avenue North eastbound near 31st Street North at about 2:07 a.m. The crash threw her onto the street and into the path of a car driven by a Bradenton 24-year-old man whose car hit her, troopers said.

A medical examiner pronounced the victim dead at the crash location, officers said.

The driver cooperated with authorities, according to FHP.
