A variety of poetry readings, workshops and open mics are scheduled during April, the 26th Annual National Poetry Month in St. Petersburg.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Poetry readings are happening throughout April in St. Petersburg during National Poetry Month.
National Poetry Month has become one of the largest literacy events in the world, Poets.org reported on its website. The Academy of American poets launched National Poetry Month in April 1996.
"Over the past two years, National Poetry Month has taken on new meaning and importance, with more readers turning to poetry than ever before," the organization said on its website.
