National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory To Tampa Bay Counties
Heat index values up to 112 are expected Thursday in several Florida cities by the National Weather Service.
TAMPA BAY AREA — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday for multiple Florida counties.
Counties affected by the heat advisory include Pinellas, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Manatee, Polk, Citrus, Hardee, Desoto, Pasco, Hernando, and Sumter.
The NWS expects heat index values up to 112. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

Accuweather said Thursday's high of 92 degrees would feel like 105 degrees.
The NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, staying out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.

Guidance From NWS
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke.
Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments to reduce risk during outdoor work. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shady location. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 911.
