'Oh Thank Heaven', Free Slurpees Today

Free Slurpee Day, Bark in the Park, Pet Pal Calendars, Ballots Mailed and Patch Newsletters are five things you need to know today.

1. On this hot summer day it won't cost you anything to get a brain freeze from your favorite 7-Eleven Slurpee. 7-Eleven is celebrating its 85th birthday on 7-Eleven Day. That's right, today is 7/11 and that means at participating stores, everyone gets a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee between 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. 

2. The Tampa Bay Rays will host their first-ever Bark in the Park event at Tropicana Field on Sunday, August 5 during the Rays-Orioles game at 1:40 p.m.  A special seating area is reserved for dog owners and their pets, and the tbt* Party Deck will turn into the “Dog Zone,” with product samples, SPCA of Tampa Bay pet adoption booth and activities for both dogs and their owners.

3. Calling all Rays Fans. Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jeff Niemann will be autographing "Players & Pooches" Calendars at Pet Pal Animal Shelter on Saturday, July 14 from 11 - noon. Calendars are $15 and all proceeds benefit Pet Pal's Animal Medical Fund.

4. Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark mailed more than 226,000 ballots to domestic voters July 10 for the Aug. 14 primary election. On June 29, 2,214 ballots were mailed to absent military and overseas voters.
