Oscar-Nominated ‘Wicked’ Star To Perform With Florida Orchestra

Cynthia Erivo, who recently starred in "Wicked" as Elphaba, will perform with The Florida Orchestra in the Tampa Bay area in May.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Oscar-nominated “Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo, who played Elphaba in the movie version of the popular musical, will take the stage with The Florida Orchestra in two Tampa Bay-area performances this spring.

The performances are set for May 2 at 8 p.m., at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg and May 3, 8 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.

Tickets for reserved seats go on sale first to Florida Orchestra subscribers and top donors at Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.

They’re available for the general public to purchase starting on Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.

Purchase tickets online at FloridaOrchestra.org, by phone at 727-892-3337 or in person at The Florida Orchestra’s Ticket Center, 244 Second Ave. N (first floor) in downtown St. Petersburg.

Erivo, “known for her gravity-defying performances,” is a Grammy, Emmy and Tony award-winning British actor, singer, author and producer, The Florida Orchestra wrote in a Facebook post.

She got her start performing on London's West End and Broadway stages as Celie in “The Color Purple.”

“Her appearance, joined by The Florida Orchestra, promises an evening of unparalleled artistry as she gives voice to music made famous by the greatest female singers of all time,” according to the Facebook post.
